Audi Turbochargers & Superchargers Kit
You bought an Audi because you want a top performing road machine. While German engineering is often spot on, there is always room for improvement. Making that improvement in the form of installing a quality turbocharger will no doubt improve your vehicle’s performance.
Turbochargers, most commonly called turbos, forces compressed air into the cylinders to increase the speed at which fuel is burned. This results in increased power output, without the burden of having to buy a new and most times even heavier engine. The increased power output without the change in weight drastically increases the power to weight ratio of the vehicle. The increased power to weight ratio translates to improved fuel economy.
The IHX475 Turbo for the Audi EA888 Engines is a bolt-on upgrade, which provides massive power output without any alteration to original intake, downpipe, and intercooler. Unlike the standard IS38 which is made of cast iron, the IHXV475 lightweight stainless steel housing. The IHX475 is there for lighter than the standard IS38.
The IHX600 Turbo for the VW/Audi EA888 MQB Engines was released after the success of its little brother the IHX475. Bigger is better. The larger housing area of the turbo will aid in the delivery of a whopping 600 horsepower. Like the IHX475, the IHX600 is a bolt on turbo
The IHX600 housing was constructed from the ground up using custom materials. When compared to using the stock IS38 housing, there is a sharp reduction in defects. You are therefore less likely to have to deal with the housing cracking or a broken stock shaft.
Overall, both turbos are definitely solid options and it would not hurt to give either one some thought if you are in the market for a new turbocharger.
